Installing Embryodynamics on Mac OS X [HOW TO]

This article details how to install Embryodynamics on your computer and start using the software. You should be ready in a couple of minutes, as Embryodynamics does not require a computer restart.

1. Download the Setup installer

From the Embryodynamics download page, click on the large 'Download Mac OS' button:



The download should start immediately and should take between 10 seconds and a few minutes, depending on your Internet access. If the 'Embryodynamics.dmg' image disk does not mount automatically, double-click on its icon from the Download window:



At the end of this step, you should have an extra folder labeled 'Embryodynamics' on your desktop that contains the 'Embryodynamics Setup.pkg' installer:



2. Run the Embryodynamics Setup installer

Double-click on 'Embryodynamics Setup.pkg'; the installer starts and welcomes you. Click on the 'Continue' button:



Select the destination where you want to install the software. Click on the 'Continue' button:



Now you're ready to install. Click on the 'Install' button:



Depending on your computer setup, you might be required to enter valid credentials in order to install the software. This is usually your login name and password or those of the computer administrator. After you've entered them, click on the 'OK' button:



The Setup program will copy files to your local hard disk. This usually takes about a minute:



After volume optimization, the installation is complete. Click on the 'Close' button:



3. Using Embryodynamics software

The Embryodynamics folder is inside the "Application" folder of your local computer. Double-click on the "Embryodynamics" icon:

You will be required to accept the Embryodynamics software License Agreement. Click on 'I agree and continue':



If you just want to evaluate Embryodynamics with the included Demo animation, click on the 'Demo' button; you will be able to test  the navigation, settings, and search features, but you will not be able to download additional animations. If you click on the 'Register' button, then you will be able to download additional Embryodynamics animations:


(If you have clicked on the 'Demo' button, please continue with Step 4).


If you have clicked on the 'Register' button, fill in your registration details. Your first name, last name, country and email address are mandatory fields; any data you share remains private. We recommend checking the "Receive important announcements" box, which allows us to send you updates about the software.

Please be careful when typing data in this form, because you cannot change your registration details (only your email address and announcement settings).

When you are done, click on the 'Register' button:


The registration process usually takes less than 10 seconds.


4. Congratulations!

You're all set. Click on the 'Play' button next to an animation to open it.


Adjust your preferences on the 'Settings' tab. If you need assistance with Embryodynamics, click on the 'Help' tab.
